The Retreat

 New Christmas miniature project! 😀

Now that I've finished my dolls house clock I have been dithering about starting a new 12th scale project. Either a grand stone castle box room (I haven't the room for a whole castle!) or a rustic winter cabin. I decided on the latter since it is more seasonal and I can have it in the living room as a Christmas decoration. I was going to make my own from scratch as I prefer doing that, but when I saw that The Dolls House Emporium had £30 off The Retreat, which is a very nice design with two floors, I decided to buy it as an early Christmas present.

I spent the weekend painting and scoring the wood (though the exterior scoring is a lot deeper than the interior), and today I'm glueing it all together! 

I'll post pics of the finished cabin in a day or two. 😀

P.S...Excuse the mess of my living room but I'm in the process of putting up the Christmas decorations as well!!

 Work in Progress.  Windows of Matt Murdock/Daredevil's apartment. 1/6 scale. My window spacing is a tad smaller than the real thing but I don't have quite the length to work with. I've already made all the furniture. The windows are the last step. My plan is to leave a small gap behind the windows so I can create the glow of the street lights below, and the changing colours of the giant advertising screen that is outside his apartment.

Daredevil Apartment Chairs

  I've been working on the two Matt Murdock/ Daredevil apartment chairs for my 1/6 diorama. They're almost finished. I just need to tone down the edging because I made it too dark, and just tidy the details. They're not perfect but I'm lazy.😂 I've already made the sofa and table.

Cobblestones

  Working on the cobblestone floor of the cottage now. Given it a very rough coat of paint but will work with the detail brush next to get into all the little cracks. I'll probably lighten it a bit too. Then add some moss. Maybe the odd weed or tuft of grass!😂 The roof of the outside loo isn't glued down yet. That, along with the cottage roof and porch, will eventually be thatched.
